If you are looking for free mold removal recipes, one of the easiest ones to mix up is a combination of Lysol and water. This mold removal recipe is very effective as a mold and mildew remover for awnings or canvas tents. You can pour bleach on the area to kill the mold or leave it exposed to the hot sun for a day. After you brush off the mold, you can use a recipe of ½ cup of Lysol in a gallon or water to disinfect the material. Then you can rinse away the smell of the bleach and Lysol with a recipe of 1 cup of lemon juice, 1 cup of salt and a gallon of water. The main thing you do have to remember is that you have to dry the material off completely. If not, the mold will come back.

When you are using a mold and mildew remover, you do have to think about the surface that you are using it on. For example, many of the mold removal products designed for bathrooms are not suitable for use on upholstery or clothing. These items require gentler handling and you may need to have them professionally cleaned, especially if you cannot wash them. Whichever method you use as a mold and mildew remover, you do have to make sure the surfaces are completely dry.
